Nameless story, part XVIII: Haystack Enemy

A Fictional, Nameless Story with a Nameless Hero. The man begins his training. A young mage is missing.

-Again!

-Again!

-Again!

The air whistled sharply as it was cut by the steel blade. Straws poured like blood out of the inanimate body of the dummy. Deep, fatal cuts were intertwined in the belly region, half of what should be the head was missing and so was the right arm. It laid on the ground next to it, sword still firmly gripped.

A few meters back a small hill of hay and rags covered the green grass. Fallen brothers of the amputee were soon to become food for the livestock. The man turned to Ceannard.

As they were descending, the noise in front turned to a subtle voice. But they couldn’t understand what was being said. It was an unknown language to them, not the one used in Rioghachad, nor in Grian. Ceartas never heard this tongue before. Maybe it was some sort of speech used only by the people of Iasgach. It was well known that a lot of towns and villages had their own dialects, aside from the official language of the Kingdom. They were remains of the old tribes that used to populate the lands before they were united to form the Great Kingdom of Rioghachad.

Heavy rain was falling. It was a grim day with a grey sky and still air. The sound of the drops hitting the soldier’s metal armours was the only thing heard on the streets of Fiadha. The whole city was silent like it was abandoned. But it was not the case, for as thousands of people withstood the horrible weather and stood still in the purring rain to send their fallen king to Fearann, the Kingdom of the Undying, where only the ones who made great deeds of goodness in their mortal life would be accepted.

A Fictional, Nameless Story with a Nameless Hero. Bhaile is lost. Our Hero meets his master. A new faze is emerging.

-Damn it! They moved too slow! If we were the real criminals, we would’ve gotten away before they shut the city down. – cried Governor Ceannard

-You shouldn’t blame them too much. The Fortress was very well guarded. It would have been next to impossible to infiltrate it by any ordinary man. Lieutenant Andar is a brilliant strategist, but not even him could have prepared for this enemy. The things that attacked you were anything but normal. – said Professor Seann.

A Fictional, Nameless Story with a Nameless Hero. A genius design, but a great loss. Bhaile will never be the same. Neither will the Fortress.

Night turned into day, as the whole town of Bhaile was lit by the flames that engulfed the Governor’s Villa. The King’s Guards were desperately trying to put out the fire, but it was a lost cause. Even if the outer walls of the Old Fortress were made out of solid rock, most of the interior was decorated with huge, polished mahogany pillars and sculptures, stating the wealth and royalty of its inhabitants. After all, it was home for the noblest families in Bhaile. Eventually, that exact display of abundance would become its downfall.
